Senior Vice President and Associate Chief Medical Officer to Boston Scientific Corporation
Keith Dawkins was appointed Senior Vice President and Associate Chief Medical Officer, Boston Scientific Corporation in January 2008. He qualified in medicine from Guys Hospital and London University in 1975 having obtained a First Class Honours degree in Pathology in 1972. He was medical registrar in Oxford, and then continued his training in cardiology at the Brompton and St Georges Hospital London. He spent 1983/84 as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University on a Fulbright Scholarship when he investigated the applicability of non-invasive techniques in the assessment of cardiac transplant recipients. He was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at Southampton University Hospital in 1986. He was lead clinician in the interventional cardiology research program, and held numerous appointments on hospital, regional and national committees. He was Clinical Director, Wessex Cardiac Unit 1994 - 1998, and a member of the Clinical Management Board, Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust between 1994 and 1999. A former member of the Editorial Board of Heart, council member of the British Cardiac Society, past President of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society, and advisor to the Department of Health and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence. He is regularly invited as a Faculty member to cardiological meetings throughout the world, including TCT and EuroPCR where he has undertaken live cases. He has been referee for numerous scientific journals, a principal investigator for a number of interventional trials (including TAXUS VI); he also has been on the Steering Committee of TAXUS Women and SYNTAX. He has been an author on more than 350 abstracts, papers, books and book chapters on a variety of cardiac topics.
